Did you Know?

  1. The G7 or the E-410, in fact almost all digital cameras has the option to take pictures in sequence with the correct settings that will enable the photographer to build a panorama.
  2. In almost 90%  of all cases it just does not work and many photographers walk away wondering what possible did they do wrong?
  3. Taking panorama pictures requires technique, specific “tools” or adapters and without them it is close to impossible to take a good panorama picture.
  4. On this site we will explore these basic techniques, how to use the adapters correctly plus how to build a panorama using software.

2. How to do Infra Red photography and what is required?

Picture taken with a PowerShot G7

Did you know?

  1. That the G7 or the G9 has a special build-in filter, that prevents it from taking a Infrared picture when using a infrared filter attached to these camera.
  2. It is better and more fun to take infrared pictures with a SLR camera.
  3. That it is possible, after severe surgery, to remove the build in filter from the G7 or the G9 and then these cams can be used like a SLR doing infrared photography.
  4. We will also have a closer look at this discipline on this site this year

3. How to and what is Astro Photography

Did you know?

  1. We have a article written by Mikael Fabrin in the article section describing the basic technique of doing astro photography.
  2. Its something great to try during the summer months, especially if in remote places away from the cities.
  3. We will try it this year on this site and we will write about our experiences.

The G7 and the G9 does not have the interval timer as described in some of the literature. I discovered that the older G3 I have does have this function. Its worth trying to find one 2nd hand...

Extra8

Panorama made from many pictures....

Did you know?

  1. The Emmental is the region in Switzerland I live. Its one of the most beautiful areas across the whole of Europe I believe and offers the photographer a wealth of opportunities.
  2. I am sure if I had to ask you about the area you live in then your reply will be similar to mine.
  3. In 2008 I want to discover the Emmental, I want to take many pictures of the Emmental and I want to do special and unique things when doing that.
  4. I will write about it, will show you pictures plus we can discuss how best we can do such a project and how does one present the results.

5. Time-lapse Photography

media

Did you know?

  1. It is not something you can do with your G7. I am not sure if the G9 can, what you need to look for is the time laps timer found in the “Video” menu of your latest generation Ixus or PowerShot camera.
  2. The time-lapse scenes are made in video mode and not in camera mode.
  3. I saw it, its something really interesting and you need the right camera to do that.
  4. I will be very interested to hear some feedback from you on this interesting subject.

6. Available light Photography

Did you know?

  1. This is typically the blue hour type photography so often mentioned in the press.
  2. It is the art of capturing the ambiance, color and atmosphere of available light.
  3. It requires the correct technique, understanding of the camera and its functions plus aspects like noise, white balance and exposure.
  4. It fun and the rewards are great

Picture taken with a PowerShot A570 IS in the late afternoon. Camera was in Manual Mode with spot metering. The exposure reading was taken from the buildings at the back. This picture typically has a number of different light temperatures. This makes it difficult to select the “correct” white balance. The wb was adjusted in Photoshop.

Photography is fun

Everybody can enjoy it
